Superman and Catwoman!

We’re going to have to call posts like this “Awesomeness of Nolan” or something, as he’s running both The Dark Knight Rises AND Man of Steel.

Yesterday, Warner Bros. released the first official image of Henry Cavill (from True Blood, and I saw him on an old rerun of Las Vegas the other day!) as Superman in Zach Snyder’s 2013 summer blockbuster. He looks pretty badass, and the rough texture of the suit gives way to the general notion of this being a much rougher, more intense take on the character. The CGI background not so much, but they’ve got time to work on that. Click through for larger size.

Also up is the first official look at Selina Kyle (AKA Catwoman) in The Dark Knight Rises, written and directed by Chris Nolan. They’re shooting in Pittsburgh right now, so obviously there are TONS of secretly snapped photos of everything happening. It’s not as cool an image as the first look at Tom Hardy as Bane, but then it also seems like the release may have been rushed due to fans snapping photos on set. She doesn’t have any ears, just the slick, black leather suit, but she does look like she knows business riding that Bat-cycle. Again, click through for better size.

Interesting note, pointed out over at SuperHeroHype, is that the film credits her only as Selina Kyle, not Catwoman. This is similar to The Dark Knight¬†featuring Harvey Dent but never, in dialogue or credits, is Eckhart’s character called Two-Face. There’s symmetry here, really, consider that TDK featured Joker (no real name in the film) while DKR features Bane, both of which come into the film already created (well, juries out on how Bane works into it). Flip that, and you’ve got Harvey Dent (not Two-Face) and Selina Kyle (not Catwoman), both of which have their origin stories within the piece.

DKR comes out next summer with MoS in 2013, but both are currently in production so expect tons of news, photos, and video to be hitting the interwebz.
