These are the things that make an awesome action flick and the always energetic and creative people over at After Dark Originals have ventured from their horror standard to bring the world a new series: After Dark Action! Starring the likes of Jean Claude van Damme, Jim Caviezel, Peter Weller, among many others! Five original action-packed thrill rides are available now on most Video on Demand services as well as various festivals and select theaters across the nation.
One of the five films, Transit, stars Jim Caviezel (of Person of Interest), James Frain, Elisabeth Rohm, Harold Perrineau, and Sterling Knight and is written by Michael Gilvary and directed by Antonio Negret. Check out the synopsis below:The family camping trip was meant to reunite the Sidwell family. It’s not. After being imprisoned for tax evasion, Nate Sidwell has lost the respect of his wife and his children. Then when he suspects their truck is being followed, he gets arrested for aggressive driving and has to spend a night in jail. Just when it seems the trip cannot get any worse, the Sidwells discover $4,000,000 cash in their luggage rack, and that Nate was wrong. They aren’t being followed. They’re being hunted – by four ruthless killers, who will stop at nothing to retrieve their millions.
I am a fan of Caviezel, so his name alone gets me interested. The trailer for Transit along with the other four films plus plot synopses, VoD information, and even a list of theaters playing each movie can be found at the After Dark Action website. For example, all five films are playing at a certain AMC theater local to many Curious Intentions individuals along with an AMC in New York City, San Francisco, and many more.
These are independent feature films. They probably won’t be winning awards, but that doesn’t stop them from being extremely entertaining and worth the time and money. Action and horror have a lot in common in that both of them, at their core, are about grasping a core emotional piece of the viewer and using it to provide quality entertainment. When I watch an action film, I want to see a lot of explosions, and After Dark Action doesn’t disappoint. It says something to the quality of After Dark Originals in the level of talent and budget of films they are producing as of late. We highly recommend checking out these five features and, if horror is your preference, also spending some time at After Dark Originals 2 for the latest thrills (of a different variety) and chills.
Let us know what you think of the films and we will pass along your words to the fine folks in charge! And in the end, have fun!
